Hello everybody,

I have been working for a couple of year with Trados and still haven't found a solution to this problem, so here I am.

I work for the marketing industry and quite often I have to translate several product descriptions where all stays the same except for one characteristic (i.e.: colour/numer of pieces/flavour of the protein powder).

Hello everybody,

I have been working for a couple of year with Trados and still haven't found a solution to this problem, so here I am.

I work for the marketing industry and quite often I have to translate several product descriptions where all stays the same except for one characteristic (i.e.: colour/numer of pieces/flavour of the protein powder).
Therefore it would be best to translate the first segment perfectly, confirm it and let the software propagate all similar matches with little to no imput from me.

Problem is that I do not work this way! Ideally, I like to write a fast first translation, leave the segment unconfirmed, come back and edit, and then confirm it. But this way I can't use the automatic propagation feature.

So I have been confirming segments I am not sure about BUT then when I change the first one, the changes won't propagate to the others. So I need to filter for a term to find all similar segment and manually edit them all. This can't be it!

How do I make this happen? Is there a way to tell trados to change all the segments with a 100% match to the one I just edited?

And why is this not a feature with its own button already? Seems so basic to me!

You can set this in the options Sep 3

Go to File -> Options -> Editor -> Auto-propagation. There, under General, choose "Auto-propagate exact matches to confirmed segments".

Thank you Yozi, I did activate the option and it works! Didn't know it was so simple... and I also wouldn't have understood it this way from its "description" alone
