Why are so many agencies involved in this particular Text Data collection project?

There have been several job postings to collect 3 types of texts: conversational Email, SMS-style text and notes. Numerous agencies are contacting translators privately for the same project. I'm just curious why so many agencies are interested in this project. Will they be able to make a lot of profits? Is the time spent by these agencies justifiable?

These data collection projects remind me of the infamous ISAAC project. I wonder if they are related?

Those are AI training related. I am not sure what “collection” means, you will be collecting other people’s private correspondences? Glaring data privacy issues.

Yes, they are given huge $ bucks by AI to carry out this training. But if it entails collecting private corresponence, it’s not legit from the GDPR standpoint. If it entails you creating fake correspondence, then I guess it’s OK.
