Medicinal properties and application of common aistika


Botanical description of astika

Aistnik, or cranesbill, as it is also called, belongs to the genus of annual plants of the geranium family. Depending on the growing location has a large number of local names. These include such as "bosonic", "Gramercy", "grubelnik, Busiki", "small rake", "pincushion", "wild carrot", "magpie needle", "cervivec"and"sock." Aistnik is a herbaceous plant with a taproot; open, rough, hairy and branched from the base of the stem reaches six inches tall; pinnate, alternate, long-petiolate and hairy leaves have stipules.

Aistika flowers are purple or lilac-pink petals, often with pronounced dark veins. The fruit is a choked-cuneate, pubescent achenes brown, ending in a spiral appendage. Plant usually blooms from may to September, the fruit ripens from June to October.

It grows as weeds in fields, around homes and roads, in crops of cultivated plants. It prefers sandy soils. Widely found in the Urals, Siberia, the European part of the Russian Federation.

Quite often aistnik confused with the similar geranium Robert. Differences geraniums are a strong and unpleasant odor, the larger size of the leaves and stems. Robert geranium prefers moist and damp places.


Picking and harvesting

As a medicinal raw materials used all aerial parts of astika, its stem, flowers and leaves. Seeds and roots collected in the usual way, are used much less frequently. Most often, the grass plant is harvested during its flowering. Do it as follows:
the stem plants are cut at the level of the basal rosette of leaves;
