The Botanical characteristics of the Calla

Calla is a perennial plant of the very popular family of Araceae. It can reach a height of 30 cm long dark green leaves and a distinctive heart-shaped form. Small yellowish flowers are collected in a refined ear, which is located on the top of the peduncle. Each ear has one flat veil with an unusual pointed tip. This plant blooms from may until the end of June. During this period the veil inside becomes pure white.

The fruit of the Calla is presented in the form of incredibly beautiful red berries. Each berry has about 7 seeds is a graceful egg shape. Thick roots of this unusual plant has a jointed long roots. Calla grows well in various parts of the Northern hemisphere. This plant is often found in Europe and in Russia. It settles on the banks of ponds and in other damp places.


The useful properties of the Calla

This poisonous plant contains large quantities of saponins, resinous substances, flavonoids, organic acids, starch, and free sugars. The Calla found essential ascorbic acid. Special tinctures from long creeping rhizomes of this plant have a unique effect through the bites of various venomous snakes. It should be noted that alkaloids are found in all parts of the Calla.


The use of Calla

This plant will frequently bloom when all conditions are strictly adhered to.
