I have just checked a complaint for an agency client. She will have to find a diplomatic way of answering... I was lost for words! I was offered the translation last week, but was not able to take it on, and I don't know who did it. However, it was fine, if not 100% as I would have done it. Simply a case of the client not wanting to pay, I fear!

Just finished a run of press releases, information to shops and SoMe postings about a product recall. Thank goodness for Trados - the client needed everything 'half an hour ago - simply ASAP' ... and finally I turned out nearly 900 words in under two hours! Now I am booked for another rushed job, but not until Monday. Have a nice weekend, everyone!
A slice of modern Danish history - a jubilee book for a compnay that started in the owner's father's barn in 1969. Now, 50 years later, it is an international multi-million business. It's fascinating to look back - it was a different and largely non-digital world then! An impressive CV. Just completed two short descriptions of buildings and their architecture. This week I have translated a feature about a forensic dentist, and proofread a research article on psychiatric nursing. Now I am translating from Danish again, working on a website for a dog-food manufacturer and a folder with nutritional details of their various products, discussing various dog health issues.

Just made a BIG chocolate cake for a 70th birthday (not mine!) - and translating a website while the cake is in the oven. Attending a seminar on what translators should know about SEO, given by a client agency. After that, meeting colleagues and networking with the agency's PMs. It is sure to be a good day! (تم التعديل) A family history - a distinguished, but not directly famous 'clan' who have written histories of what their great grandfathers' generation were doing 100 to 150 years ago. Copenhagen was a small world then, but many of the buildings are still there, although the shops have changed owners and gardens have been built on... A fascinating period piece about life in the late 19th century and up to WW1. With some wonderful vocabulary and language to reproduce!
Taking time out, listening to my native language, reading all the blurbs and instructions posted everywhere, taking notice of what is going on! Writing English abstracts of articles in a magazine about glass art for those who cannot read Danish. I explain a little about the pictures and refer to websites with more information in English. Trying not to panic about the Copenhagen powwow tomorrow!
Just stopped work on some medical records - the project has not been confirmed!! But I have only done a couple of hundred words, and confirmation will probably come. I have an academic paper on nursing to edit in the meantime. The Danish powwow in Copenhagen, keeping an eye on mails and who is coming, and translating an abstract of a paper on Scandinavian glassworks. Articles of Association for a new company and an employment contract Picking up the pieces after another translator overestimated what he/she could do before a deadline. It is a mixture of informal e-mails between patient and doctor and serious medical Latin reports of treatment and progress (or lack of it...) Suddenæly the deadline came, and there were still a couple of dozen small gaps and twelve whole pages to translate. Or perhaps the translator was ill, had an accident, something like that, and had to give up, I don't know. I have heard stories like that before. Must get back to it, to finish the job before the extended deadline I negotiated: there is an impatient client waiting! A glossary of official English names of Danish ministries, public authorities, university faculties and more - I look at it when I am between jobs.
