The urethra in women


Urethra (urethra) is an elastic tube that is responsible for the excretion of urine from the bladder to the outside. Women have it much shorter and wider than in men (3 to 4 cm long and 1.5 cm width to 16– 22 cm and 8 mm respectively). Internal opening of the urethra leaves from the bladder, and the canal passes through the urogenital diaphragm and ends at the eve of the vagina, the external opening of the urethra. Among them, notably hypothermia, sexual hyperactivity, leading to urethral microtrauma, poor diet (excessive consumption of spicy, sour, fried foods and alcohol), the violation of the microflora of the vagina and gynecological diseases, diseases of the kidneys (kidney stones), poor immunity, mechanical damage during medical procedures (catheterization, smear), the pathogenic effect of toxic substances and radiation factors.

What causes this unpleasant and dangerous disease? Most often it is any gynecological disease associated with violation of the microflora of the vagina. It is a violation (SIBO) can be caused by sexual infections, among which the most common are chlamydia, trichomoniasis, ureaplasmosis etc. But, in addition, the disease can develop under the action of streptococci, staphylococci and other bacteria.

Urethritis may lead to various complications in the transition of inflammation on the bladder it can cause cystitis and if the infection goes on, it can attack the kidneys, causing pyelonephritis. Chronic urethritis is often the cause of deformation of the urethra that prevents normal urine excretion.
