Cytokine therapy – what is it and how much?

Cytokine therapy is the treatment of various diseases proteins, which reproduces the human body in response to pathogenic influence of various factors. As pathogens are viruses, foreign cells, bacterial endotoxins, mitogens, antigens, alien nucleic acids.

Cytokine therapy at this point in time have not received such wide popularity in terms of cancer treatment such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or radiation therapy. However, this does not mean that it is less effective. In addition, cytokine therapy virtually harmless for human health, as it very rarely causes the development of any side effects or not cause them at all.

Cytokine drugs based on substances created by nature itself. Proteins, the basis of therapy, there are as many as there are the human kind. Such a long duration of the "clinical trials" cannot defy any one drug.

The therapeutic effect of citicentre is based on the functions of cytokines in the human body:

  • Start, control and regulation of immunological reactions in response to the influence of pathological factors.
  • Work control of the acquired immune system, activation of specific immunity, control of immune system cells, stimulation of the activities of killer cells.
  • The process support cell renewal on the young and healthy.
  • Ensuring the integrated functioning of the nervous, immune and endocrine systems.

It is established that cytokine production is one of the first reactions of an organism in response to exposure to pathogens. They appear already in the first hours and days from the moment of occurrence of the threat. The body with cytokines protects itself not only against foreign proteins, but also from foreign genetic information. At the present time there are more than 100 types of cytokines. They are divided into five major groups: IFN, IL (interleukins), RSF (growth factors), chemokine, TNF (lymphotoxin). Each of these groups of cytokines performs a specific biological role in the body.

Drugs based on cytokines is used to treat numerous diseases. At this point in time there are more than 50 cancer, inflammatory, infectious, and sclerotic disease which in varying degrees, respond to cytokine therapy. And this list is constantly updated.

Here are just a small part of the list of diseases thatofficially authorized in the Russian Federation be treated with the help of citicentre:

  • viral hepatitis and With chronic and acute course;

  • Multiple myeloma in remission;
  • Kaposi's sarcoma in patients with HIV;

  • Melanoma;

  • Genital warts;
  • SARS, influenza, rotavirus infection, bacterial intestinal infections;
  • Cervical erosion, vulvovaginitis, vaginal dysbiosis and other diseases of the female genital sphere;

  • Infection of the mucous membranes and skin viral nature;
  • Multiple sclerosis;
  • HIV and AIDS;
  • Pulmonary tuberculosis;

  • Shingles;

  • Breast tumor and other oncopathology;

  • The treatment of anemia.

Some groups of cytokines used in the form of monotherapy, some drugs are used in combination with other drugs. The choice of a particular drug is based on the kind of disease a man has, what is form, etc.

Statistics indicates that efficiency level from application of citicentre according to different sources varies. However, in complex treatment of oncological patients with the use of drugs, cytokines absolute success was achieved in 10-30% of cases, partial response, say from 40 to 90% clinicians. Under a partial success, it should be understood the reducing tumors in size, stabilization guidance, improvement of clinical and laboratory parameters, etc.

Enhancement of the therapeutic effect can clearly be seen when you enable cytokinemia in the General scheme of treatment of diseases of inflammatory, infectious and sclerotic nature. The maximum effect can only be achieved with proper selection of the drug, with its right dosage, depending on the form and stage of a particular disease. Treatment with high doses of cytokines or an increase in the frequency of drug administration does not affect the success of the therapy.

Cytokine therapy of oncological diseases using drugs Ingaron and Refnot

Modern cytokine therapy of oncologic diseases provides the following effects:

  • Providing the antitumor effect.
  • Achieving local protivoklestseva effect.
  • Prevention of cancer development and metastasis.
  • Providing synergistic anti-cancer effect (in combination with chemotherapy).
  • Reduction of side effects from chemotherapy.
  • Prevention and treatment of complications of infectious nature.

It is established that started in the week prior to the proposed chemotherapy, cytokine therapy, to prevent neutropenia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, etc. After completion of the course of citicentre patients produced by the immune system to prevent development of infectious diseases without taking antibiotics.

The drug Ingaron contains in its composition of Interferon-gamma, which is the native human protein and is produced by the body's immune system. The drug Ingaron passed clinical trials in the Russian Oncological scientific centre named after N. N. Blokhin. During the tests, was proven anti-tumor activity of Ingaron, was confirmed by its immunomodulating properties, established the ability of the drug to inhibit angiogenesis of cancer cells, etc.

In 2005 Ingaron was officially registered and approved for treatment of oncological patients in Russia.

Another drug that also passed three phases of clinical trials called Refnot. In its composition contains the cytokine TNF (tumor necrosis factor). This essential protein protects the body from various infections and controls the growth and development of tumors. It is proved that Refnot process prevents the division of tumors and facilitates their destruction, does not allow the tumours to acquire their own vessels, the damage already having the tumor vessels, disrupts the blood circulation and provokes the death of the tumor.

Refnot was officially registered in the Russian Federation in 2009 in the month of March.

Important quality Renata and Ingaron is that both of these drug doesn't have toxiceffect on the human body, do not inhibit the natural function of the blood, but at the same time stimulate the immune system to fight tumors.

For the treatment of cancer patients used combination of drugs Refnot and Ingaron, which allows more aiming to influence tumor cells. Unlike chemotherapy, the combination of these two drugs do not inhibit, but rather stimulate the immune system. In addition, it is proven by the fact that the treatment of ekoobrazovanie as a single drug is less effective.

World studies allow to state that therapy with drugs Ingaron and Refnot sensitive the following types of tumors:

The treatment of any of the following types of neoplastic processes reduced to a combination of cytokinemia, which continues for 20 days. The drug is administered by injection. To conduct one course will need 10 bottles of each of these drugs. They are dispensed on prescription.

Possible side effects from treatment drugs Refnot and Ingaron

After the introduction of cytokines may experience the following side effects:

  • The rise of body temperature by 2-3 degrees. This side effect occurs in 10% of patients. The increase in body temperature occurs a few hours later from the time of introduction of the drug (from 4 to 6 hours). To normalize the body temperature should be taken antipyretic agents such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Paracetamol or other drug from the group of NSAIDs. And do not be afraid of the lack of antitumor effect, on the contrary, it will only get worse.
  • May cause some soreness at the injection site with redness of the skin. Therefore, the choice for drug administration should be alternated. To reduce local inflammation also helps NSAIDs. With the same purpose can be applied to the skin iodine mesh.
  • If the patient has a large tumor, it is not excluded poisoning organism products of disintegration. To reduce the symptomsintoxication, introduction of cytokines suspended for a period of one to three days, after which the course continues.

When treatment ends, the patient must undergo a re-diagnosis using a previously used instrumental methods of examination (MRI, PET, CT, ultrasound, determination of the level of tumor markers, etc.). It should be noted that high levels of tumor markers after completion of the treatment process is expected, due to the process of disintegration of the tumor.

Antitumor effects of citicentre

The results of treatment are directly dependent on what the sensitivity of tumor cells to the administered cytokines:

  • Normal sensitivity ensures complete disappearance of the tumor and metastases, that is, a complete regression of the cancer process. In this case, the person is recommended to undergo another course of citicentre after 14-21 week.
  • If a person has a reasonable sensitivity of tumor cells to the administered cytokines, is a reduction of tumors and metastases in size, so there is partial regression. In this case, the patient is recommended to repeat the course of citicentre.
  • If tumor cells are resistant to treatment with cytokines, it is possible to achieve stabilization of the tumor process. It is not excluded that atypical malignant cells differenciate in benign, and the tumor itself will be covered by the fibrous sheath.

  • Approximately 20% of patients the tumor continues to grow. In such patients it is recommended that the passage of cytokinemia in combination with chemotherapy or with radiotherapy.

It is worth noting that chemotherapy, which is carried out on the background of citicentre, tolerated by patients much easier, and antitumor effect is much higher.

How much for cytokine therapy?

The price of drugs Refnot and Ingaron vary depending on the region, which will be purchased. The average price for 5 capsules of the drug Refnot varies from 10 000 to 11 000 rubles. The drug Ingaron used for intramuscular injection, can be purchased at the price of 5000 rubles for 5 capsules.
