Causes and symptoms of scleroderma


What is scleroderma?

Scleroderma is a disease in which there is a loss of connective tissue. Disease manifests itself in the form of seals. Causes of scleroderma, unfortunately, is not yet fully understood.


Causes of scleroderma

The causes contributing to the development of scleroderma, include stress, hypothermia, severe or chronic infectious diseases, radiation, chemicals.

The symptoms of scleroderma

The focal form appears in small rounded lesions. During the development of scleroderma, they pass through three stages: first spots appear, then they turn into plaques, occur atrophy. At the beginning of scleroderma is weak: there is one or a few spots of lilac-pink, rounded or oval. Further, in the center of the spot formed by the seal, which with the course of the disease turns into a dense plaque with a smooth brilliant surface white or yellowish.


Types of scleroderma

The most common types and more studied consider systemic and limited scleroderma.

Systemic scleroderma affects many organs and tissues.

There is a kind of systemic sclerosis, called diffuse. This rare form occurs only five percent of patients. This form is dangerous because negative changes occur in the internal organs, so the outcome her sad.

Limited scleroderma is usually reflected on the skin and adjacent layers, although other parts of the body are harmed by it.

Patchy sclerosis is one of the types of localized scleroderma. Formed a certain amount of spots. Very often, spots appear exactly where there was damaged skin. Very rarely, but it happens that this scleroderma goes away.

Linear scleroderma usually affects kids. The localization of the disease – the forehead, over the disease it is moving in the direction of the hair. Generalized form of scleroderma affects large areas of the body. Very common in children, although adults from this disease is not insured too.

Complications of scleroderma

Scleroderma affects almost all organs and systems of man. Therefore, this disease is considered intractable.
