Botanical characteristics of Wheatgrass

Quack grass is a perennial plant belonging to the family of bluegrass. Long rhizomes are in the soil in a horizontal position. Branching roots to their tops begin to bend and end up on the soil surface, thus there is a new species of wheat grass. On the erect stems of the plant are the leaves, having linear flat plate on top that has a rough surface. Inconspicuous flowers of couch-grass are collected in inflorescence-the spikelets in several pieces. Each flower consists of a perianth, stamens and pistil. The fruit of the plant – weevil, inside of which contains one seed.

The plant blooms in late spring – early summer. Ripening begins in July and lasts until early autumn. Wheatgrass is found throughout Russia, in gardens, parks, vacant lots, meadows and forest edges. Wheatgrass often grows under fences in the settlements.


Reproduction of Wheatgrass

Wheatgrass reproduces vegetatively and by seeds. Vegetative method involves the use of plant roots that are planted in soil and monitor their development and growth. For the regeneration, just enough particles of the rhizome buds. Most often, Wheatgrass is propagated in this way.

Wheatgrass has anti-inflammatory and expectorant action, which is used in cough, pulmonary tuberculosis, gastritis, abundant sputum, bronchitis, and liver disease. Wheat grass normalizes the bowels, and also is a great remedy for constipation.

The use of couch grass

Folk medicine often uses Wheatgrass as a diaphoretic to treat colds and fever. Wheatgrass improves appetite, revitalizes the body and improves sleep – all of this plant due to the content of sugars and vitamins. Wheatgrass is used when vision problems, hypertension, diabetes and malignant tumors.

Wheatgrass has anthelmintic action, which is used in the presence of worms in Pets. This plant is a constituent component in the preparation of pills. Bath of Wheatgrass is used in skin diseases, rickets, diathesis and hemorrhoids. Wheatgrass is a member of various fees, which are used in liver cirrhosis, cystitis and other illnesses.

Diuretic decoction of couch grass. Take 10 grams of rhizome of Wheatgrass and pour 100 ml of boiling water, put 15 minutes on the fire and strain. Take the finished broth 3 tablespoons three times a day before meals.
