A characteristic feature of an abscess is that the tissue adjacent to the inflammatory focus, create a kind of wall membrane separating the contaminated area and restricting gnoynichkovyh process and tissue death, which is a protective reaction of the body.

Allocate many kinds of abscesses: soft tissue paraconsistency, pulmonary, injection, and even brain abscess. But, regardless of their location, abscesses are always accompanied by pain and bring a lot of inconvenience.

Causes of abscess

Most often, the abscess occurs due to focal bacterial infections, primarily staph, as it leads to weakening of the immune system and reduces the body's ability to fight diseases.

There are many ways germs in the body and ways of occurrence of abscesses: microscopic damage of the skin, suppuration of the cluster streamed blood (hematoma), infection from a local source, as well as boils, cysts, purulent infection, and more.

Perhaps the appearance of an abscess due to getting under the skin of chemical substances, and also after medical procedures (subcutaneous injections, injection) produced without the observance of aseptic rules.

Symptoms of an abscess

There is a possibility of abscess on the skin and in any organ or tissue. The most difficult to diagnose abscesses of internal organs, and visible from the outside of the abscess located in the dermis, in the muscle or in the tissue under the skin.

The first sign of an abscess is the appearance of painful hard knot and redness around it. After a few days or weeks at this place formed a capsule filled with pus.

Symptoms of abscess coincide with the typical manifestations of inflammatory processes, regardless of their location. As a rule, General weakness, malaise, high fever (in severe cases up to 41°).

The final phase of abscess formation often is its spontaneous rupture, leading to release the pus. For superficial abscesses, the pus comes out into the external environment in the case of complete purification abscess loses volume, collapses and, in the absence ofnegative influences, eventually turns into a scar.

Abscesses of the internal organs out the pus in the cavity of the body can lead to the development of various purulent processes.

Treatment abscess

For the successful treatment of an abscess is very important to its diagnosis in the early stages. Treatment abscess, irrespective of the place of its origin, is reduced to opening the capsule with pus and emptying.

Most often, the abscess is the reason for surgery and hospitalization, but small superficial inflammation possible treatment in an outpatient setting.

Abscesses of internal organs (liver or lung) sometimes doing a spinal tap to remove pus and in the vacant cavity administered antibiotics.

At the stage of operative intervention in chronic abscess is resection of the body along with the abscess.

After opening the abscess is treated the same as festering wounds. The patient provide rest, good nutrition, you can assign transfusion of blood products or substitutes. A course of antibiotics is prescribed only taking into account the sensitivity of microflora to him. Especially careful in the treatment of abscesses should be people suffering from diabetes, as they will need the full correction of metabolism.

With timely treatment of abscesses and correctly performed surgery the percentage of complications is minimal. But neglected and undrained abscesses can become chronic or lead to spread of infection to healthy tissue. The place is poorly cleaned abscess may form a fistula.
