Washing out the nose with sinusitis

The content of the article:

Sinusitis is a disease in which there is inflammation of the paranasal sinuses. Doctors use various methods of treatment of sinusitis, but each of them is assigned a nasal lavage.

During the conduct of these events can be triggered medications that possess anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.

Than to wash the nose in the sinus?

Upon detection of the first symptoms of sinusitis the patient must consult a doctor. After collection of anamnesis of disease specialist in most cases appoints a nasal wash. Thanks to this procedure, all the pus accumulations to be withdrawn from the maxillary sinuses. Many patients that exactly fulfill the instructions of their physicians and regularly carried out at home the procedure of nasal lavage, was able to avoid painful puncture. Puncture of the maxillary sinus prescribed to patients in extreme cases when none of the more gentle treatment methods do not bring the desired effect.

Currently, in many medical institutions, including clinics, equipped physiotherapy clinics in which patients with a diagnosis of sinusitis, perform a nasal wash. If the patient does not have free time to visit a health facility, he may own, at home, to wash procedure. It is necessary to purchase certain medicines with high efficiency.

Scientific-clinical center of otorhinolaryngology of the Russian Federation located on the territory of Moscow, in 2011 conducted a number of studies whose main purpose was the comparison of existing methods of irrigation of the nose with sinusitis. Highly qualified specialists were also tested different medications, which managed to achieve the most stable result patients, after the liberation of the maxillary sinus from accumulation of purulent masses.

In this scientific experiment involved the following medications:

  • Aqua Maris;
  • Humer;
  • Other types of pain soft.

In addition to identifying the most effective medication, in comparison involved the following methods of nasal lavage:

  • Dolphin;
  • for Proetto.

For these experimentsinvited were Russian citizens, whose age ranged 18-60 years. The 150 participants were diagnosed with the same disease – a chronic rhinitis. After conducting all experiments in the media and on specialized Internet resources, published the results.

A comparative study of modern methods showed the following:

  • the technique of lavage of the maxillary sinus "Dolphin" took the deserved place of the leader. 69% this method has proved its effectiveness;
  • a little behind the leader method "Proetz". The effect of this method of nasal lavage was obtained in 56%. However, many patients, the participants of the experiment noted that in the posterior portions of the nasal cavity remained small pockets of purulent masses. The experts supervised these research studies explain these results by the need to carry out lavage of patients to take a horizontal position.

When testing medicines, scientists have identified the following results:

  • Humer was effective in 43%;
  • Aqualor was able to show the result only in 41%;
  • Aqua Maris was able to assist the patient in 18%.

As for the drug Aqua Maris, you should consider its main thrust: the hydration of the nasal mucosa. That is why the wash procedure, with the employment of this medicine, was so ineffective.

When conducting studies related to nasal breathing, were obtained the following results:

  • method "Proetz" - patients who participated in the experiment, began to breathe through the nose virtually without symptoms of chronic rhinitis;
  • the method of "Dolfin" in 96% proved its effectiveness. Patients observed a clear improvement of nasal breathing.

In this study participated and medications, which failed to show the expected effect:

  • Humer – 69%;
  • Other means of soft – 62%;
  • Aqua Maris – 55%.

Research, the purpose of which was to define the nature of the resulting liquid (after the procedure nasal lavage), showed the following results:

  • the method of "Dolphin" – was the most effective medicine, which could remove from the maxillary sinuses 73% of mucus and crusts;
  • method "Proetz" - 66% of proved efficiency;
  • the drug is "Humer" - helped patients to 52%;
  • the drug "Akvamaris" - showed its properties to 50%;
  • the drug"The phrase software" - provided assistance to 43% of the subjects.

Scientists, after all tests and experiments, made the following conclusion:

  • in a medical facility were the most effective methodology "for Proetto";
  • at home large results were achieved when using the technique of "Dolphin".

In the physiotherapy room, the patient perform a thorough abstraction of pus and mucus from the maxillary sinuses:

  • specialist gently injects into one nostril of the patient a special device, called an aspirator-suction;
  • as a result, the nasal cavity is negative pressure;
  • circulates fluid in the nasal passages at an accelerated pace;
  • during filling of the sinuses with fluid the patient needs to say the word "cuckoo".
  • During this procedure, the patient lies on the couch, in the physiotherapy room. His head should be slightly thrown back. Before beginning the lavage into a patient's nasal sinus special solutions that have the ability to narrow the blood vessels. If the patient is too advanced forms of the disease, during the washing of the opposite nostril should be griped for a while. This ensures that the entire solution is evenly spread on the inner channels of the sinus.
